Our Story
Sven Osusky, owner of SoDak AutoHaus, grew up tinkering on anything with wheels. Raised in Slovakia, where resources were limited and controlled by the Communist Party, he learned to get by with what you had. As a kid he recalls scraping up parts from broken down bikes to build his own. This ingenuity and curiosity ignited a passion for taking broken things and making them usable again. A quality that has lent itself very well to his profession as an automotive mechanic. In the automotive industry, Sven is known to be an “auto detective”… meaning he has an uncanny ability to detect underlying issues that cause vehicle breakdowns and correctly determine what the best fix would be. In addition to this he has the ability to “think outside the box” in doing repairs, this is especially helpful with older models, where parts are no longer sold and hard to find.
In 1989, shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall, Sven immigrated to the US. Largely in part to escape the communist regime but to also pursue the American Dream, where anything seemed possible. He settled in the Seattle area and began working as a Volkswagen technician. Throughout the next 10 years he improved upon his skills by working on all German makes & models. In 1999 Sven and his family relocated to Spokane, WA where he spent the next 12 years as a VW/Audi technician and eventually became the shop foreman at a local VW/Audi dealership. Sven had always dreamed of owning his own shop and in 2011 that dream became a reality. He opened Europro Automotive in Spokane Valley and built it into a business that has an excellent reputation and is well known to be fair, honest and professional.
This past year Sven and his wife LaniJo sold their shop in Spokane Valley to move closer to family. They both love the Black Hills area and are excited to be a part of this great community.
